Would you be interested in operating a food kiosk on Boston Common, adjacent the Brewer Fountain, corner of Tremont St? Here are the details, please email me or call me if you would like to discuss this opportunity. 646 872 8436. Thank you.
1) The kiosk. The operator will provide and maintain a moveable kiosk adjacent to Brewer Fountain during the summer season. This will remain onsite throughout the operating period. The operator will then be responsible for removing the kiosk for storage until the next season. In appearance and condition the kiosk must satisfy the design standards of the Common and will be considered a temporary structure.
2) Kiosk manufacturers. BRV, consultants to the Friends of the Public Garden, can advise and assist the operator, if required, to locate and work with one of several companies manufacturing suitable kiosks. Final approval for design of external appearance will be necessary. The operator may choose to purchase or lease the kiosk, at their discretion and expense.
3) Menu. The operator will choose their menu offerings, however we consider it more practical if open cooking/grilling with venting is not included and warming is limited to electrical appliances such as microwave ovens and grills for such items as pressed panini sandwiches, crepes, hot soup, etc. Hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages will be offered plus ice cream if desired.
4) Services. Nearby hook-ups for electricity (100 amps) and potable water will be supplied at metered cost to the operator.
5) Operating season. The summer season will be approximately six months, with the possibility of extending this period and including the holiday season, subject to discussion (the entire season must be less than twelve months). Daily hours at the operator’s discretion but the maximum daily operating hours are encouraged.
6) Seating. Friends of the Public Garden will provide temporary outdoor seating with tables alongside the kiosk. Floor-plan to be discussed.
7) Rent. 10% of gross sales. Plus utilities to be paid by operator.
Length of agreement. Initially for two years commencing this summer, 2010. Extension subject to negotiation. -
I eat breakfast and lunch there regularly and usually order yogurt parfait for breakfast. Love it! However, recently, the amount of granola used in the parfait has dramatically went down from 3/4 of the cup to < 1/2. At the same time, the chef increased the amount of greek yogurt. Therefore, the new combination flavor is too sour and it feels more like eating greek yogurt with some granola sprinkle. In that case, $4 is a bit too much to pay.
