Element beer: W Mass here in Cambridge

IMG_2613

We were trying to figure out which Element beer to feature, and Chris couldn’t even find a bottle at any of the local stores that sometimes stock it. So I drove back to Millers Falls, the small mill town in Western, MA where this beer is brewed.

Millers Falls is really small. This picture is the “town center.” If you stand on the corner and look up the street you can see the house of deer family friends, I spent many hours there as a kid.

It’s crazy to me that one of my favorite beers is being made right there. Right now New England is a hotbed of beer innovation. I’m not sure why. But we have these incredible beers being made here right now. Nationally and internationally our breweries are getting serious recognition. Whether it’s Allagash working the Belgian white (and many other crazy beers) for years before getting recognized, or Pretty Things and their explosive cult status, or Alchemist (Heady Topper) that just can’t keep up, or Hill Farmstead, perhaps one of the best breweries in the world, certainly one of the most beautiful, or Mystic with never-before-tasted yeasts, or. The Jack’s Abbey we’re about to take off to make room for Red Giant gets something like a 97 ranking on Beer Advocate. These beers are incredible, and we feel so lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy the hard and exacting work of these New England hewers.

Come join us and Ben, the brewer from Element tonight:

They pretty much always have a good amount of Element in stock at Boston Wine Exchange in Downtown Crossing.
