Hicka-what?

The latest seasonal sandwich is the Sweet Potato. This is a revised version of a sandwich we first tried last year. Middle of the winter is a great time for tubers (potatoes and stuff that hold over the winter), and for produce from other parts of the world. Rolando makes this with a cilantro soy spread, roasted sweet potatoes (they are a little spicy), and jicama slaw.

So what is Jicama? Rolando describes it as a crossbetween a pear and a potato. It’s a little bit sweet, sort of crunchy. Give it a taste, let us know what you think. As always, with the seasonal sandwiches we’re always making changes and adjustments based on what we hear from you all. This version includes the potato skins, something we took off most of last winter. I think it’s an improvement.

Any chance you guys could focus on getting protein into your offerings? As an MIT grad student, I want to support you and have Clover as a lunch option, but having a sweet potato being the “meat” of a sandwich just doesn’t work for me nutritionally, as an avid athlete.

    Stephanie –

You know, that’s a strange sandwich, you’re not the only one to be confused by it. It’s sort of upside down. Something we’ve played with a few times in the past. The main protein component is in the spread. It’s a soy-based cilantro spread on that sandwich which is getting you the bulk of the protein. But more than that, there is protein in the sweet potato (about 4 grams protein), and protein in the whole wheat bread (7g protein). Most of our sandwiches are balanced around 20g protein per serving. For reference, a McDonald’s hamburger has 12g protein total, and a big mac has 25g protein (and 29g fat).

I had this today and it’s my favorite seasonal sandwich so far. And I’m glad you left the skins on. Extra nutrients!

I also finally learned how to pronounce “jicama” from the girl who took my order.

This sounds amazing! I love sweet potatoes and jicama. I’m allergic to soy, though, and didn’t realize the cilantro spread was a *soy* one–any chance you can mark some allergens or spell out ingredients somewhere (on the menu, on the website)?

Hi there! I tried this sandwich today from your DWY truck and LOVE it! I was hoping you could share the full nutrition info. Also, I don’t think I’ve seen nutrition info for your drinks and soups. Will that be up sometime soon? Thanks and keep those amazing flavors coming!

Hey y’all. I’m an avid clover consumer, but I ordered this sandwich today and it was, like, inedible. I don’t know if it was the slaw or what, but I couldn’t get through two bites. On a more positive note, is the tomato sandwich coming back anytime soon? That one ruled!

Great sandwich. The Jicama really fills it in nicely. I was looking for more than protien for nutritionals, specifically…Carbs, Fat, Protien and Fiber. I trying to drop some lbs I am need this information to see how it fits into my plan.

On a different topic… any plans for the asparagas season…it is best in early spring…
