The combination of Burlington as a pickup location and the potential for half-shares has me definitely interested, where this wasn’t going to be feasible before. Awesome!

Do you think there are others who would be interested in the Burlington site as a place to get their CSAs? We’re trying to get an idea of what volumes would look like for that location. Are there any other CSA pickups nearby?

I can’t imagine anyone is going to come to you for a CSA from the Boston Herald. The demographics just seem massively off. Old right-wingers vs. young Cambridge lefties.

boston.com would be better (but probably not the paper version of the Globe). or Google adwords or something else online.

Lots of people who live in the ‘burbs feel close enough to just go to some of the farms directly (IE, people in Concord are just going to Verrill Farm).

The local-ish pickup locations I’ve looked into aren’t as convenient as Clover Burlington will be for me, and I would usually have some difficulty getting to the pickup location on time. Usually half-shares are very popular in the city, and less popular in the ‘burbs, so while I haven’t very diligently looked for it, I haven’t found a half-share of anything easy to get to.

(My favorite thing about that plaza right now is that there are a bunch of places to get decent food quickly, and several options, so even if my partner and I want different food, we’ll often both end up happy there. Clover will make that even easier)

Well we hope your partner will become a huge Clover fan!!!

Thanks for the note. You’re right about the suburbs having a much different relationship with farms. I didn’t ever have a CSA until I moved outside of the city. And you know, if a direct farm relation works better for some folks, I think we’d argue that’s the ideal way to get your produce. But on the other hand, we can offer a reach, selection of farms, and convenient pick-up times (and half-shares as you mention) that hopefully will open the CSA up to folks who otherwise wouldn’t have considered or been able to make them work.

    Thanks for the note!

    Bob –

We can’t wait to prove you wrong! Whenever we have an article printed in the Herald we have the best response from customers of any outlet. I’m talking better than our coverage in the NYT, Wallstreet Journal, Globe, CNN, Food Network, etc. It’s been fantastic. We love those “old right-wingers” and everybody else who reads the Herald just like we love our Cambridgians!

Aside: we are also talking to Boston.com and Google adwords.

Hey! Thanks for doing this. I live in NYC but I’d like to be able to register and pay for my low-income elderly parents to participate. Is there a mailing list that I can be added to?
    Thanks!

That’s a really sweet thought. Keep an eye on this site, we launch Feb 1. You can sign up right online.

I’ll add you to the general mailing list too!
