Intelligentsia coffee, Ethiopia: Yirgacheffe

Intelligentsia sent us some samples of their newest single-origin coffees. If you know our coffee program, you know we only pour coffees from single farms (no blends).

Each one we tasted we liked even better than the previous. We finally settled on this Ethiopian from the Yirgacheffe. Which means we have an uncommon situation – two Ethiopian coffees on offer (we’re also pouring Borboya from George Howell). Ethiopia is special for coffee. It’s where coffee was supposedly born. It’s the African continents’s largest producer of coffee. And a bunch of the coffee actually gets consumed inside the country (not always true for coffee).
