We have Cummins generators installed right on the trucks. These give us problems from time to time. If you’ve been by the truck when the generator dies, or followed the twitter you know the generator on the MIT truck wasn’t sending any electricity to the truck itself, which means we couldn’t operate anything that had to be plugged in (…everything). It turned out that there was a plastic bag caught in the engine. No joke. That’s street I guess.
Last June Ayr purchased 2 external Honda eu2000i generators, 1,500 watts each and enough to run everything on the truck at 75%.
We fixed the internal generator so these guys are going away for the time being. It’s always good to have a back plan incase we face issues like this in the future.
