Do you like cupcakes? Read on for how to snag one whether you’re eating at restaurants or cooking up Clover at home.
At the original Clover truck at MIT, if a staff member had a birthday, something special would happen.
We’d bake a batch of cupcakes in our Moffat oven, frost them in the sun (or rain) and if you stopped by for breakfast, you knew to come back at lunch because there would be free cupcakes while they lasted. They were not always beautiful. In fact they were often ugly. But they were always delicious. Back then we didn’t serve desserts daily. So the smell of batter baking was extra special. The word would spread down the Infinite Corridor: cupcakes at the truck!
We’re bringing back the tradition tomorrow 10/29 (Clover’s 12th birthday!) with a free birthday cupcake while they last at restaurants and 2 free cupcakes in meal boxes. Just make sure you order for Saturday and act fast: these are already half sold out!
If you can make it by, there’s a good chance you’ll leave with something sweet. We’re working with Sarah Morrison of Small Batch Baking Co. Sarah is a friend of Chris’ and he can’t stop talking about her delicious cupcakes. Sarah’s going to work with us to make carrot cupcakes with Winter Moon Roots carrots and a chai cream cheese frosting.
CloverDTX will have its first lunch service of operations since March – a double celebration! So if you’ve been missing Jasper or your daily chickpea fritter, order on the app on Thursday and stop by 27 School St. We can’t wait to see you (and hopefully give you a free birthday cupcake!)
