CLOVER IS HIRING FOR A CATERING AND EVENTS MANAGER

That’s Ali (our awesome catering coordinator). In June, after a year of pushing our catering program to new heights, she’s moving to a different department in Clover, which means we’re hiring for a pretty amazing role. For the right person, this could be one of the most exciting job openings in the Boston area right now. Here’s the application. Deadline to apply is May 15. Spread the word. We’ll choose the best of the best for in-person interviews.

CLOVER IS HIRING FOR A CATERING AND EVENTS MANAGER

Clover is a fast-growing empire of restaurants in Boston, Cambridge, Brookline, Watertown, and Burlington, MA (with our sights set on national presence) — and we’re holding auditions for a key member of our corporate team.

The Catering and Events Manager will be responsible for booking and executing world class catering events with the local, seasonal, ever-changing menu that we’ve become famous for, and also planning events that are open to the public, including coffee tastings, beer launches, kids days, and cooking classes.

JOB DESCRIPTION
-Interface between chefs, clients, and managers to create catering packages for Clover presence at weddings, office parks, and cultural events (last week we catered the Boston Marathon!)
-Manage pickup and delivery orders from the 7 Clover food trucks and 5 restaurants (this week we’re catering a Hackathon at MIT)
-Rent out portions of Clover restaurants for private parties (last week we hosted Yo Yo Ma!)
-Plan and host coffee tastings, beer launches, kids days, and cooking classes
-Join weekly food development meetings with Clover chefs where you’ll learn about our revolutionary sourcing practices and techniques

REQUIREMENTS
-To apply, you must have at least 2 years experience working in a supervisory role in catering sales, management, or events-planning at a fine dining or quick-service food establishment. Culinary school or experience working in a restaurant kitchen is a plus, but not required.

ARE YOU RIGHT FOR US?
-A self-starter, someone who will aggressively go after opportunities
-Someone who will pay meticulous attention to quality of customer experience
-An excellent written and verbal communicator

PAY
-The role is competitively paid, full time, based partially on an hourly wage and partially on commission. You earn based on your skills at booking events so there’s no limit to your salary. To give you an idea of what’s possible, this month our current catering manager will earn an equivalent to a 50k yearly salary.

WHAT IS CLOVER?
-We use fine-dining techniques to celebrate locally sourced food at prices that everyone can enjoy. Since opening in 2008, we’ve garnered accolades from The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Eater National, and the Food Network. Our most important critics are our regular customers who line up to eat with us every day. Read more about our adventures and our catering program at our website.

This week has been a flurry of preparations as we kick off the 2024 food truck season. We did an event at Tufts over the weekend, in a few days we’ll be selling breakfast and lunch at a conference at the Media Lab at MIT, and this weekend we’ll be pulling up to a private party with sandwiches and appetizers.

Every year, just after Valentine’s Day, we start getting the same question in from customers: Will there be a Passover Box this year? Sometimes the pleas are more direct, sometimes more colorful. The glories of the vegetarian Chopped Liver are a common theme. This year, Sarah, an NYC-based friend of mine said she’s spent so much time thinking about the emails describing last year’s box that she’s DRIVING UP TO BOSTON to claim one!

We have a new sandwich out everywhere today. It’s a take on a Buffalo Chicken sandwich. We use celery root, aka celeriac, this nobbly, gnarled joy of a winter vegetable. We cut it into planks, batter it with panko, and fry it. We’re getting ours from Norwich Meadows Farm, a farm in NY state that’s known for creating really flavorful organic veggies using a cool irrigation system.

For the week of Valentine’s Day, we’ll be delivering these Making Whoopie (Pie) Kits 😉. They have everything you need to make whoopie pies — more specifically, Chris’ favorite oatmeal cakes with beet buttercream frosting. You’ll also get a scoop for making the perfect size pie, and a roll of sugar cookie dough for more sweet fun.

Chances are you’ve tried the new Clover Bowls. We’ve been running them since the Spring. After a few tweaks, we landed on a roster we love: the Mediterranean Bowl, the Verde Rice and Bean Bowl, and a Rotating Seasonal Bowl. The bowls have transformed our menu – Josh, a Kendall customer, recently wrote to us, “The beet poke bowl is the best new item I’ve tried at Clover in years. I love the freshness and bite of the mix of flavors.” We’ve also heard some very good suggestions about how to make them even better…

These sweet potato latkes date back to early days on the Clover food truck. They’re so yummy and the sweet potatoes lend them such a fun golden color. They’re probably the most popular item in our Hanukkah Meal Box, which you can get delivered on December 7th. Inside the box you’ll find:
