Did you know maple has a season? It’s right now! If you head out into Western Mass, Vermont, Connecticut, New York State, and up into Canada, you’ll see signs for sugar shacks, where maple sap gets boiled down into syrup and little restaurants pop up to serve pancakes, corn fritters, cider donuts, and dill pickles (to cut through the sweetness of the fresh syrup).
We’ve been obsessed with maple ever since our food truck days, when we held sugar shack brunches in the little park across from where the truck parked.
This year we’re celebrating Maple in two ways:
1.) CORN FRITTERS! It’s been a long time coming, but 2pm specials are back. Our rotating afternoon specials got axed a while back, due to the quality being all over the place. This time we are back with better training and they’re going to be perfect. Oh and we’ve moved the timing from 3pm to 2pm so more of you can enjoy. So come by any location anytime after 2pm. We’ll be frying up pillowy fritters made of Plimoth gristmill corn. On the side: New England-tapped maple for drenching. And as a nod to the sugar shack tradition: a few slices of dill pickle (you can ask for it without the pickles if this idea freaks you out, but I think you should try it).
2.) MAPLE BOX! If you know you know. This box lets you enjoy maple for every meal of the day. Order for the 23rd or the 30th. I don’t like to play favorites, but this box is #1 in my heart.
