For one weekend only, there will be no Clover in Harvard Square

HSQ1 (7 Holyoke St) is closed now. We sold our last sandwich there last night, March 31. I had an idea to put up a big marker and let all the customers and employees write their memories on the door. The door is all covered now in words! Stop by if you want to add yours. I’m hoping Harvard doesn’t demolish the glass for a while.

HSQ2 (1326 Mass Ave) is looking beautiful. All the old tiles and glass pennants have been restored. Tables, kitchen equipment, bathrooms are in.

We’ll be closed over the weekend, and we’ll open early next week. Our fingers are crossed for Monday 4/3 at lunchtime, but it all depends on our final health inspection with the City of Cambridge. Keep an eye on Twitter (follow cloverHSQ or the entire Clover world) and Instagram, we’ll be posting updates throughout the day.

We had no idea what the word Panelle meant when a customer first told us about it ten years ago. This customer grew up in Sicily, the triangular island south of mainland Italy. Tender now on the menu

About a year and a half ago, at an open-to-the-public food development meeting at Clover, we blind taste-tested a new plant-based pulled pork. This wasn’t a totally new thing for us to do—as a company with a climate mission, we tend to get a lot of samples of plant-based everything, and we love trying all of them. We’ve tried mycelium-based mushroom meats, wheat-and-soy nuggets, and burgers made from kelp. One bite in, and it was clear this pulled pork was special.

Squeaky paneer, mint cilantro chutney, chaat, and our first-ever collab with a local chef. Remember when Pushpir came into the kitchen and schooled us on Northern Indian food? That was 2013.
