Pushpir schools Ayr on Indian cooking (come to CloverKND tomorrow to taste the result!)

I discovered Guru the Caterer via Yelp. I can no longer eat at any other Indian restaurant in Boston. Pushpir only does 8 items a day, 4 meat and 4 veg. Everything is really fresh. I introduced Ayr and he started becoming a regular. He met Pushpir, the owner. Whenever Ayr would make a curry at home, he’d call Pushpir for instructions.

We invited Pushpir to come to the Clover test kitchen and help us develop our first-ever Indian-inspired sandwich. We think this is going to be the first of many collaborations with local chefs.

Pushpir was showing us how to make this awesome sauce with cilantro, mint, jalapeno, yogurt, and orange juice. This is going to be the base for the sandwich we launch tomorrow. Pushpir will be joining us, so bring all your questions about Indian food. We’re pre-selling sandwiches for those who fear a stock-out.

Tender now on the menu

About a year and a half ago, at an open-to-the-public food development meeting at Clover, we blind taste-tested a new plant-based pulled pork. This wasn’t a totally new thing for us to do—as a company with a climate mission, we tend to get a lot of samples of plant-based everything, and we love trying all of them. We’ve tried mycelium-based mushroom meats, wheat-and-soy nuggets, and burgers made from kelp. One bite in, and it was clear this pulled pork was special.
