I came up with this salad in November 2009 and I didn’t run it at all last year. Found this old photo of it and it all came back to me.
When I was a kid, we visited my dad’s family in Cincinnati, OH around Thanksgiving time. There were like 12 pies on the counter. My mom didn’t bake pies. I remember tasting the sweet potato and pecan pies for the first time. The flavors were so good. This salad was influenced by that time and those flavors – a trip to Ohio at Thanksgiving.
