Starting now through end of day (midnight) on Wednesday 1/19/21, Clover will donate a meal box to Food For Free for every single box order placed during that period.
Tomorrow (Monday) is a Day of Service to honor Dr. King’s legacy. We can’t solve everything in this world, but we can source and cook and season and pack nutritious food. We can donate our time, our money, our access to supply chains.
For the past few years we have been thinking about community service and what that means. It’s a beautiful tradition we have here in the US. And as with everything else, it feels Covid and now Omicron has made it more difficult.
Food For Free has been on the frontlines not just during the pandemic, but for years before. We’ve been working with them by offering the ability for our customers to donate boxes – when a customer donates a box, Clover matches 1 box for every 2 donated.
For MLK weekend, we supercharge this effort. For the second year in a row, all purchases of Clover Meal Boxes will trigger a 1:1 donation from Clover of a box to Food For Free. Last year we set a goal of 300 boxes and you all came together and surpassed that in a big way. Together we ended up donating 650 boxes. That meant over 5000 meals—hearty, exciting, plant-based meals for our neighbors, all year long.
This year we’d love to hit 500 boxes and with your help maybe we can do it!
Here’s how to participate this year:
Pick a box (any full sized box including Starter Box, Burns Night Box, Playoffs Box, Snowed In Box, January Seasonal Box or any box that piques your interest. Order it for you or a friend, for pickup or delivery, for any date over the next month. We’ll handle the rest, and send you a note when your matching donation box leaves the HUB. Just remember to do this by Wednesday 1/19 at midnight if you want your box to count towards a donation.
Don’t need a meal box for yourself or a friend in the Boston area? Just want to donate a box directly? You can donate a box directly anytime via the Donation Matching section of our Box menu.
Want to donate directly to Food For Free (bypass Clover boxes)? This is a great option because it allows Food For Free to use the money however they need: to hire people, buy vans (very hard to find these days!), buy food, fundraise, and do all the things you need to do to keep an operation running.
