I had a meeting this morning, got there early, and thought I’d try this breakfast place in Harvard Square. I wont say where, that’s not what this post is about. Instead, I thought I’d write briefly about bad food that sounds like it should taste great. You know, the Whole Foods effect, flash over substance.
Sounds good: “egg, spinach, and sauteed mushrooms on a ciabata roll with fruit salad”
So what’s wrong? The roll is old, maybe stale. Wasn’t a good roll when it was new, but this is not new. Further, it has been nuked. Yup. Yuck. The eggs have been cooked at too high a temperature (rubbery). And they are not seasoned. I really couldn’t even eat it at all. I doused it with Tabasco and still couldn’t eat the sandwich. I wont even go into the fruit salad. I’m sure you’ve already been there.
