Have you ever had a baked apple? It’s an old time New England thing.
I was on the phone the other day with Tony Russo of Russo’s in Watertown. He was telling me about his memories of Harvard Square, when he was first driving produce trucks.
He was talking about a place that doesn’t exist anymore. But if he could he would stop in there very early in the morning, like 6am. He would double park the truck and grab something to eat. It was the breakfasts he described that grabbed me. 3 things you can’t get anywhere today. 3 things with history. All delicious:
(1) Baked apple
(2) Corn muffin cut in half and grilled
(3) Bread pudding
Yum, right? We decided to add the baked apple to our menu right away. It’s premiering as a 3pm special, but soon it will be a regular on the breakfast menu. I’m really excited.
