The tables in Harvard Square are made out of a material called ChemTop. It’s a laboratory counter material. Get it, food lab, lab counters : )
I’d only seen it in grey (it’s a replacement for the original slate tables found in labs), but we found that they sell it in white as well, which, obviously, we like. It frames the food really nicely when you go and sit down with a meal.
A couple of problems with these tables: (1) the design is awful, and they wobble all of the time, (2) they are hard as stone and nearly impossible to cut.
Still working on the first. Ideas anyone? Welding skills anyone?
In the picture above I’ve found the solution to the first: Cobalt drill bits and a powerful drill. Cutting beautifully.
