Introducing the Clover Passover Box!

Passover is just around the corner! We’re so excited to be collaborating with our dear friend Rabbi Barry Dolinger of Congregation Beth Sholom to create a deep, rich, springtime spread of dishes that are great for one big seder or many smaller meals throughout a week.

Bitter endive dressed with honey. Bright orange romesco. Deep red borscht. Fluffy potatoes—Chris is even making vegetarian chopped liver inspired by a survey we did of your favorite Passover food memories. A nod to the past, a celebration of tradition, a hopeful look to the future.

And at the center of it all: matzo on a mission, baked the old way at Mitzvah Matzos using Maine Grains flour, with proceeds going to fight modern slavery (in the form of human trafficking).

This softer, more traditional matzo is finding its way into a luscious mushroom pâté enriched with Rhode Island Mushrooms and Grafton cheddar, perfect covered in lots of gravy…and since we’re in New England, there’s even Maple Matzo Fluffernutters!

Every item in this meal box, from your first sip of soup to your last bite of flourless chocolate cake, is Kosher for Passover — we want to thank Barry for helping Chris and our kitchen team do the hard work to get there with no added cost to you all!

All items are heat-and-eat or require minimal prep (5-10 minutes) to get on the table.

Attention! Extremely limited slots!
Order now to secure your spot for pickup or delivery on March 25 or 26.
Don’t forget to add extra matzo and Kosher wine to complete your order.

What’s inside the Passover Box?

On sale now. Available 3/25 and 3/26. Free delivery within 30 mile radius of Cambridge!

Matzo Fluffernutter Kit

  • 1 container almond butter
  • 1 container Clem’s maple fluff
  • 2 slices of soft wheat Mitzvah Matzo (the matzo company that Barry and his wife Naomi run in RI). Though this soft style may seem non-traditional, it in fact more accurately represents how Jews celebrated Passover for most of Jewish history. This is not the cracker-like matzo you might be used to. As Barry says, “it’s not your bubbie’s matzo—it’s your bubbie’s bubbie’s matzo.” Included in your box: a special note to Clover customers from Barry about the history of soft matzo.
  • Make maple matzo fluffernutters by heating the matzo and adding nut butter and maple fluff!
  • (Note – an earlier version of this menu had peanut butter listed, which we have since changed to almond butter)

Appetizers for your seder table

  • 1 container romesco dip
  • 1 container chopped liver (meatless of course, Chris is working his usual magic again)
  • 1 pot chopped hardboiled eggs (yummy with chopped liver)
  • 1 container raw veggies for dipping
  • Anticipate needing more matzo to make soup or to have during your seder? We’re offering packs of Mitzvah Matzo as a supplemental item—be sure to add to your order before you check out.

Brussels sprout casserole

  • Our most popular holiday item is back! You don’t want to miss this one.
  • 1 casserole tray
  • Ready to eat – just heat it up!

  • 1 pint of creamy soup made with East coast potatoes and Grafton cheddar (did you know Rabbi Barry milked cows and supervised a special Kosher run of this cheese up in VT?)
  • Ready to eat – just heat it up!

Bitter endive, provolone, hazelnut, cherry salad

  • 1 container of salad
  • 1 bottle orange-honey-white-wine vinaigrette
  • Just dress the salad and serve it up!

Mushroom matzo pâté

  • 1 loaf of pâté made with Rhode Island Mushrooms, Mitzvah Matzo, Grafton Cheddar and lots of love
  • Ready to eat – just heat it up! Goes great with lots of gravy.

  • 1 container mashed potatoes
  • 1 container onion gravy
  • Ready to eat – just heat it up!

Butternut squash kugel

  • 1 container kugel made with butternut squash (no noodles)
  • Ready to eat – just heat it up!

Roman tomato soup

  • 1 pint of soup
  • Ready to eat – just heat it up!

Kale and Winter Moon Roots Farm salad

  • 1 container salad
  • 1 bottle turmeric dressing
  • Just dress the salad and serve it up!

(Note: all 3 menus are included with every box! No need to pick and choose – this is just our suggested method of breaking up the dishes into separate meals if you are eating the box over the course of a week instead of eating it all together as one big feast)

  • Flourless chocolate cake (1 tray)
  • Passover Apple Mousse (apple compote with orange-cinnamon white chocolate mousse – 2 jars)

(Note: portions described here are for the 2-person box. Menu scales proportionally for our 4, 6, 8, and 10-person boxes)

Need more matzo? How about Kosher wine for your seder? We’ve got the good stuff, both red and white : )

PS. Do you have friends in Rhode Island who you think might like a Passover Box? We are doing a special pickup in Providence on March 25 – orders for that can be placed here!

PPS. Here is a note from R Dolinger, hope this helps address some Passover-related questions!

The Pizza Friday Box gave us an idea: calzones! Ayr has been making these at his house and texting us photos. They’re big and saucy and so good. Basically a stuffed pizza/turnover situation with origins in 17th century Naples.

As you might know, we love feedback. Survey Day is a tradition that harkens back to the first days of the food truck, over 10 years ago. If you got a card in line today at Clover, or if you ordered on the app today, click here to take the survey. Huge thanks for helping us improve.

Thanks all who joined for the first public food dev meeting after Covid. Phil did a great job pulling it all together. If you’re a customer, farmer, vendor (or Clover staff member) reading this, you are invited to Food Dev! These happen Thursday afternoons at the HUB and they’re where all new food ideas are born. Just make sure to sign up – spots are limited.

House-made carrot lox, hearty vegetable stews with bread and pickles, Tunisian breakfast bowls, a pizza party kit, and a dream of snow, all in one box. Our Snowed In Box is back. This was Greg’s idea back in 2020. He thought it would be cool to make a box that was equally whether eaten after snowboarding or cozied up on the couch watching a movie.

We’ve been getting a lot of requests for the ability to gift a friend Clover Meal Boxes. After a lot of late night tech sessions, we have a way to do this! Yay! I’ve been looking and seeing a few of you have started to discover this feature and are starting to gift away. So cool to see.

If you’re a weekly meal box subscriber, you may have noticed way fewer plastic containers in your deliveries recently. When we started the program, we were in the pandemic, new to this whole home delivery thing, and a big concern was making sure that nothing spilled inside the boxes. So we relied on post-consumer recycled containers (aka plastic deli containers) for a lot of the items.

We’ve been getting back into the merch game. First up: squash shirts. I thought it would be fun to celebrate the diversity of the squash world. Although butternut is probably the squash you see most in the grocery store, there are actually over 100 types of squash, all with their own patterns, colors, and textures.

The Bridgewater is back!! This is probably the most requested sandwich on our menu. Michelle who runs our social media says she reliably gets one message per week asking when it will return. In 2015, Paul and Bryan came up with this sandwich as an homage to the jalapeño poppers at The Charlie Horse, a now-closed tavern in their hometown of Bridgewater, MA.

I love the holidays. I love the lights, I love the traditions, I love ornaments and pine needles all over the floor.  I love the movies (“Muppet Christmas Carol”) and the books (“A Child’s Christmas in Wales.”) I love the good songs, I love the schlocky songs (if you’ve never heard “Suzy Snowflake” or “Dominic the Donkey”, stop reading right now and click through.)

It was inevitable. Our meal box program had to find its way into restaurants at some point. A bunch of you have been asking if we can sell “on demand” meal boxes in our restaurants – for those times when you have last-minute dinner guests or forgot to subscribe by the deadline. So we’ve been easing into the process of combining one part of Clover with another.

Brussels Sprouts are extra sweet this time of year, and King Brussels, in his infinite wisdom, has cooked up a Brussels Week in our meal boxes. Every single subscription box will contain a recipe inspired by brussels! This is the first time we’ve explored a seasonal theme across our entire lineup and we’re excited to dive in.

This was Jane’s last week at Clover. We’re wishing her the best in her next steps (but also not so secretly hoping she comes back!)
