Like the moist brisket from Austin the other day this King Cake from New Orleans is something you’re not likely to find on the Clover menu. But look at those colors! Brings out the kid in you, right?
From what I understand this is a somewhat seasonal cake they make down in New Orleans. On our research trip down there it was the natural thing to pair with coffee (when taking a break from the beignet). Sometimes there is a baby inside. I’ve heard if you bite the baby it means you’re buying next year.
Rolando and I found there were different versions. It was everywhere. It’s like a brioche. Our favorite was this one right here, cream cheese in the middle. I couldn’t get a picture of the whole slice, we were eating it too fast.
