OK, I warned you I have a backlog. This picture is from almost a month ago.
Some of you might remember that this time of year we’re usually giving away apples for free to customers. We work with Autumn Hill Orchards, we buy their smaller apples, they’re the best tasting apples we know how to buy, and we share them with our customers.
This year was a very bad year for the orchard. Heavy rains hit the blossoms, and draught conditions convinced the trees not to invest in fruit. At home I have zero black walnuts this year, when last year I had hundreds.
Normally the orchard would have supplies that last through the end of December. This year they were out by 2nd week of October. Out. Some of you might have been lucky enough to get to try the apples. There weren’t many of them, and I think we were only able to give them away for a couple of days. But they tasted like candy. Just amazing. We’ll have to wait ’til next year for more.
