We’re looking for a space to make our “HUB.” It’s going to be the place people gather for events, meetings, etc. If Michael Pollan comes through Boston, I want him to speak here. It’s going to be a CSA drop-off/ pick-up available to any CSA in the area. It’s going to be a learning center, a place we can bring kids to talk about food. We’re hoping to work with groups like the Food Project on a demonstration garden.
We’ll have an enormous kitchen, which will keep the trucks stocked. And we’ll have a small dinning space, where neighbors can grab a bite to eat.
We need parking, and something like 3,000 – 6,000 square feet of space.
It’s ambitious, and really exciting for us. We were eyeing the old Casal bakery on Cambridge St. just outside of Innman, but no dice. They don’t want to rent it. And we’ve been looking at the vacant Citgo station on Western and Harvard Ave. in Allston forever, but Harvard has been claiming for 18 months that it is under agreement. We’re poking around other sites in Boston. These pictures are from an old textile plant in Dorcester now owned by the guy who operates Lucky Star buss lines. Another we’re looking at is at Drydock, near the water. Hoping to figure this out in the next month.
